Peter Peryer
Artwork Detail
Peter Peryer photographed his wife, Erika Parkinson, over a period from the mid-1970s to mid-1980s. Viewing the emotionally charged images one almost feels that one is intruding on something private. As writer, Emily Perkins, points out, ‘She is staring down the man behind the lens, her husband.’ However, Parkinson reflects, ‘I feel lucky to have such a rich, distinctive record of that time and those moments. They don’t look like any other person’s pictures of me.’ (Intimate Portraits, 2005)
