Shay Docking
Artwork Detail
Shay Docking arrived in New Zealand in 1965 with her husband Gil Docking, who was the Director of the Auckland Art Gallery. She soon began research into Auckland with her Volcanic isthmus series of paintings. These images rendered Auckland’s landscape as a sequence of volcanic cones stacked next to one another and seen in intersection with the sea and the bush. (Representation and Reaction, 2004)
