- Biography
- Qianye and Qianhe Lin are siblings who work as a duo, developing video installation, writing and performance works. Born in Zhuhai, China, they grew up between their birth town and Tāmaki Makaurau. They first followed their mother here in 2002 when she came to study, each staying temporarily for stretches of months before returning to China. In 2013 AL moved indefinitely to Aotearoa when they were 15, and Qianye followed in 2014 when she was 18.
Qianye and Qianhe Lin are interested in exploring language and perspective through re-imagining and re-contextualising the experiences of presence and immersion. They are particularly interested in the fragmented narrative and linguistic potentials through layers of writing, translation and responses between each other and their other collaborators.
Both siblings studied at the University of Auckland Waipapa Taumata Rau, with Qianhe completing a Bachelor of Arts in music and a Bachelor of Fine Arts, and Qianye a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy and media studies as well as a Bachelor of Fine Arts.
