Vanessa Edwards graduated from the Quay School of Arts, Universal College of Learning (UCOL), Whanganui, in 2002. She is a founding member of Toi Whakaata Māori Print Collective.
Edwards works primarily in printmaking, though her interest in weaving is often carried through into her practice. In some works, this is expressed in the use of woven surfaces; in others, weaving patterns are incorporated into the printed design. The role of tikanga Māori (Māori customs) and matauranga Māori (Māori knowledge) in the present day are continued themes in her printmaking.
