The Gallery is introducing new ticket prices and options to help meet rising operational costs. These changes enable us to maintain free general admission to all visitors while continuing to bring exceptional international exhibitions to Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland.

The Gallery’s new ticketing structure and membership fees will be introduced from 5 May 2025.

Ticket prices will vary depending on the exhibition, however international tourists will pay slightly more than New Zealanders for ticketed exhibitions.

Below is a table that outlines prices for A Century of Modern Art with the Gallery’s most recent ticketed exhibition (Olafur Eliasson: Your curious journey). These prices still offer great value for access to some of the best international art.

*Please note, all children 14 and under must be accompanied by an adult. 

Visitors will be asked to self-identify as either a New Zealand resident or an international tourist when purchasing tickets. Proof of identity will not be required.

Tickets for A Century of Modern Art will be available for purchase online from 5 May 2025. You can also purchase tickets at the Gallery on the day of your visit.

As a not-for-profit organisation, all revenue from ticket sales and memberships is reinvested directly into supporting the Gallery's operations, including presenting exhibitions, caring for the art collection, offering educational and inspirational programmes, and enriching Auckland communities and beyond. The increase in membership prices ensures that we can manage rising operational costs, while continuing to offer Members the best value with unlimited free access to all exhibitions, exclusive events, and discounts. Membership prices have not increased since 2022.

Membership benefits remain unchanged, including:

• Free entry to all ticketed exhibitions, including A Century of Modern Art.
• Exclusive invites to member-only events, exhibition previews, and curator-led tours.
• Access to the Members Lounge.
• Discounts on merchandise, in the café, and more.
• Three issues per year of our Gallery magazine, Art Toi.

Dual membership is designed for two individuals living at the same address, who want the flexibility to visit the Gallery together or independently. Both Members will have access to unlimited visits to ticketed exhibitions, as well as all other membership benefits.

There is also a Dual membership and guest passes bundle which includes two guests passes at a discounted price. 

The guest pass allows a Member to bring a guest to a ticketed exhibition and events. A Member must accompany the guest at the Gallery during an exhibition or event.

We’ve changed the price of the guest pass to better reflect the experience and benefits it provides. This ensures we can continue delivering high quality programmes while keeping guest access fair and sustainable.
