Student exhibition | Pat Hanly Creativity Awards

Exhibition detail
This exhibition showcases selected artworks from Year 12 and Year 13 students who took part in this year’s Pat Hanly Creativity Awards programme. Gallery staff have chosen the top submissions for their outstanding creativity, originality and skill.
Participating students created works in response to the theme: Ko au te taiao/I am the environment.
The Pat Hanly Creativity Awards gives students the opportunity to explore and shape their own creative pathways by making their own artworks. This year, in the 24th edition of the awards, over 1000 ākonga (students) from schools across Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland participated in the collaborative programme of workshops with our studio artist, inspiration-gathering at the Gallery and creating an original work of their own.
The Pat Hanly Creativity Awards exhibition provides an opportunity for young artists to have their work displayed alongside art and taonga (treasures) from across Aotearoa and beyond, sparking meaningful conversation across generations of artists.
About the programme
The Pat Hanly Creativity Awards acknowledge Pat Hanly’s outstanding contribution to New Zealand contemporary art and his passion for art education and supporting young artists.
