Exhibition detail

Undoubtedly one of the greatest political satirists, Honoré Daumier's withering assaults on the privileges and perceived vices of 19th-century France's elite, and his wider reflections on urban life and social mores, became a mirror to the society in which he lived. Experience his perceptive interpretations of that time in this history-rich exhibition of Daumier's lithographs.

Drawings without borders

After a visit to this exhibition, head down to the lower ground level to watch the short documentary, Drawings without borders, which features the work of nearly 50 cartoonists from around the world. The cartoons gathered by Institut Français offer us an understanding of how the freedom of speech and artistic expression can be used for social and political comment, and show a strong link to work of Honoré Daumier.
