The Patrons have been helping to build the Gallery’s collection since 1987. Each year their donations are pooled to acquire an exceptional artwork for the Gallery’s permanent collection.

Led by Chair, Chanelle Farmer, this small but enthusiastic group includes some of the Gallery’s longest standing and most generous supporters, and they enjoy a close relationship with the Gallery’s curatorial staff and executive teams. The Patrons programme includes exclusive curator led tours of exhibitions, private collections, and artist talks. A highlight is the annual buying meeting when patrons work with the curatorial team to select a major artwork for acquisition.

Over the past three decades, the Patrons have contributed more than 300 works to the Gallery’s collection including major works by Gretchen Albrecht, Mark Adams, Fiona Connor, Shane Cotton, Bill Culbert, Brett Graham, et al, W D Hammond, Yuki Kihara, Richard Killeen, Michael Parekowhai, John Pule, Lisa Reihana, John Reynolds, Peter Robinson, Yvonne Todd, Francis Upritchard, Robin White and many others.
