On the occasion of his retrospective at Auckland Art Gallery (9 August 2014 – 15 March 2015), Robert Ellis talks about his career as a painter and life in New Zealand. Ellis recounts meeting Francis Bacon and the importance of some of the places in his most well-known works – Rakaumangamanga and Te Rawhiti in the Bay of Islands.
