Dr Tony Green (b 1936) is an art writer, academic, artist and poet. He gained an under-graduate degree in English Literature from Cambridge and completed a PhD at the University of Edinburgh with a thesis on Nicholas Poussin. Green was the first Professor of Art History at the University of Auckland and held the role of Head of Department from 1969-1992. From 2005 on he has written two art/literature blogs, Poussin's Humour and Accumulations. Highlights of the archive include correspondence with NZ artists and art historians; dealer and public gallery directors; and American concrete poets as well as NZ artist files and exhibition catalogues. In addition there are many examples of Green's published art writing and his notebooks covering the NZ art scene in the 1970s and 80s. In summary the archive consists of: art catalogues; artist files; ephemera; correspondence;unpublished manuscript material; art criticism and reviews; notebooks; albums of postcards; photos; poetry listserve printouts and an artwork by Bruce Barber, Dialogue,1973
