Pat Hanly (1932-2004) was a well-known New Zealand painter and print-maker, who also produced stained glass windows and murals for a number of Auckland buildings. His art is recognisable for its colour and vibrancy. As well as personal themes, Hanly's works often reflect his dedication to the anti-nuclear cause. The scrapbook is out-sized and circa 350 pages, and was compiled by Hanly from 1952 to 1990. It consists of press clippings, exhibition invitations or flyers, catalogues, notes, 2 photos and correspondence. As well as covering Hanly's art career it relates to the art scene in New Zealand at the time including such topics as the 1956 Henry Moore show, the late 60s debate about the Kelliher Art Prize and the increase in the art sale market.
