Gather up your whānau and join us to make your own papakirango (fly swat) brooch!
This free, creative activity is inspired by 'Atapō', a large artwork featured in Toi Tū Toi Ora: Contemporary Māori Art by the Mata Aho Collective and Maureen Lander.
Using the same colour palette and weaving patterns as 'Atapō', we will be making woven brooches to take home. This traditional design symbolises being watched over and protected. Wear them as you enjoy your day at the Gallery and beyond!
100% New Zealand wool is kindly donated by Skeinz – The Natural Yarn Store.
