Strike a Pose fashion films: Bill Cunningham New York

2.30–5pm

event Details

Join us for a series of film screenings about the fascinating fashion industry introduced by fashion expert Angela Lassig, who puts modern-day haute couture and street apparel into historic perspective.

For decades, photographer Bill Cunningham had been obsessively and inventively chronicling fashion trends and high society charity soirées for the New York Times' Style section. Documenting downtown eccentrics and uptown fixtures, — Anna Wintour, Tom Wolfe, David Rockefeller, who all appear in the film out of their love for Bill — Cunningham’s enormous body of work is more reliable than any catwalk as an expression of time, place and individual flair. In turn, Bill Cunningham New York is a delicate, funny and often poignant portrait of a dedicated artist whose only wealth is his own humanity and unassuming grace.

“A remarkable portrait of a tremendous talent” – The Guardian
