Art rebels

Art can be an effective way of raising awareness for things that matter. These holidays become an art rebel and activist. Learn the art of protest and discover ways to use your creativity to make a statement!

Timetable

WEEK 1 PROGAMME

Mon 3 October: Canary craftivist – The canary is a symbol for climate change protest. Create your own feathered protest canary collar to wear and ruffle some feathers!

Tue 4 October: Screen-printed t-shirt – Make a statement with what you wear. Create your own design and screenprint it on a t-shirt.

Wed 5 October: Beeswax wraps & Bee friends – Celebrate the hardworking, humble, planet-feeding bee! Reduce your plastic use at home by learning to make beeswax wraps that can be used again and again. Make some little fabric bees to hang up around your community to raise awareness of how these little creatures make our planet buzz and thrive.

Thurs 6 October: Protest badges – Create stitched and drawn badges to convey a message close to your heart.

Fri 7 October: Superhero cape – Anyone can be a superhero! Make your own protest cape and mask to become a world-changing superhero!

ESSENTIAL INFORMATION 

  • The full-day programme is from 9am–3pm.
  • Restricted to 7–12-year-olds.
  • Limited to 16 children per day.
  • The cost is $80 (+booking fees) per child per day; or $350 (+booking fees) per child for five days. Use code HOLIDAYS10 for 10% off family group bookings under 5 days.
  • Emergency contact name and phone number for each child must be supplied.
  • Name and contact number of the person picking up each child must be supplied.
  • Any special requirements, including wheelchair access or allergies, must be supplied.
  • BYO lunch and snacks.
  • Please bring a warm layer of clothing that is appropriate for outdoor weather, as breaks may take place outside the Gallery.
