Claire Regnault – Frances Hodgkins: her textiles, her patterns, her designs

12–1pm

event Details

Join us for an engaging, illustrated talk with Claire Regnault, Te Papa, Senior Curator New Zealand History & Culture on Frances Hodgkins' textile designs.

Frances Hodgkins love of textile designs is evident in many of her paintings and in the clothes that she could afford to buy. In today’s terms could almost be described as a ‘fabricaholic’. Yet an aspect of Hodgkins’ career that has often been relegated to footnote status or described in somewhat dismissive terms is her short career as a textile designer in Manchester between 1925 to 1926 at the Calico Printers’ Association (CPA).
