Auckland Zinefest Market 2017

Auckland Zinefest, the annual non-profit festival celebrating zine culture and all things DIY, returns to Auckland Art Gallery's north atrium. 

Enjoy works from more than 80 zinemakers who will be selling their zines on everything from science, psychedelic journeys, feminism, mini comics, gender politics, colonialism, design, diaspora and other ideas worth sharing. Stall holders will be selling their zines individually so please remember to bring cash.

There will also be talks and panels in our Auditorium throughout the day. Details below:

12pm: Marco Conaco
Last year's Best of the Fest winner for his zine 'I am brown. I will not frown', will present and discuss cultural heritage and ethnic identity in relation to his storytelling.

2pm: Panel Convo
A diverse array of zine-maker activist will disuss their perspectives on zine-culture and zine-making and how it has historically and presently been an avenue for activism. 

Valerie Morse: Auckland Peace Action is a community peace campaign working to end Aotearoa's support for war and the global arms trade.

Sophie Weeber: Feminists of Colour is a solidarity group born in University of Auckland's City campus, that is focused around amplifying and supporting the voices of people of colour in the student body and teh local community as well as highlighting injustices and providing support.

Nishhza: Shakti Youth is a network of young people from various Asian, Middle Eastern and African backgrounds working to end family violence and gender-based oppression from an intersectional feminist perspective.

Mengzhu: Mellow Yellow is a local Asian feminist zine which started in 2005. Their zines based on personal experiences seek to link the connections between migration, racism, identity, oppression, class, queerness, decolonisation and gender.
