Artist talk: Richard Killeen on Gordon Walters

10.30am–12pm

event Details

Join us on for an exclusive talk between Curator, New Zealand Art Julia Waite and artist Richard Killeen in the beautiful Members Lounge overlooking Albert Park. Renowned for his iconic ‘cut outs’, Killeen – like Gordon Walters – has had a profound impact on visual culture in New Zealand.

The starting point for this discussion will be Killeen’s first meeting with Walters in the early 1970s, and the effect of their long friendship on their practices. This is a rare opportunity to hear from one of New Zealand’s most revered artists.

Welcome with coffee, tea and croissants and pastries from 10.30am, followed by the discussion from 11am to 12pm.

This is a fundraising event and the proceeds will benefit the programmes and activities of Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki.
