Our experienced kaiako and art educators will work with you to design an enriching visit for your ākonga supporting critical thinking and creative responses, while achieving learning objectives across a range of disciplines. To find how our current exhibitions relate to learning areas, click here.
NEW: Gilbert and George Tour and Workshop – 3-hour Gallery & Studio programme
This programme centres on the current exhibition, Gilbert & George: The Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland Exhibition (25 Jun–11 Sep 2022). Conceptualised as one artist, Gilbert and George present their living sculptures in a photographic format. This tour and workshop provide ākonga opportunities to collaborate as “one artist” and create a photocollage expressing local issues and other personally relevant ideas.
We also offer two other programmes designed and delivered to support your area of interest:
Inside Out
This programme introduces tertiary students to the resources available at the Gallery. Ākonga are introduced to the EH McCormick Research Library, Collection Archives and staff behind the scenes throughout the Gallery to cultivate relationships and develop skills in support of academic research, creative practice and career pathways.
Unravelling an Exhibition
This inquiry-based, discursive programme for tertiary students is focused on artistic and curatorial practice. Supported by the educator, ākonga will examine contexts, concepts, processes and approaches to materials throughout an exhibition, identifying unifying themes and ideas and examining curatorial approaches.
The Tertiary programmes are FREE, while entry to ticketed exhibitions is discounted to $10pp for booked education groups.
