On Saturday 28 September, the ribbons hanging within Auckland Art Gallery's Creative Learning Centre change to the colour green for the final phase of artist Tiffany Singh's installation, May the Rainbow Always Touch Your Shoulder.

The change signals the end for the year-long installation, which is set to finish on 10 November. Over the course of the year, May the Rainbow Always Touch Your Shoulder explored colour and its various cultural, spiritual and environmental associations. Visitors have contributed their own colour associations to the room through activities inspired by the artworks The Direction of Sunbeams and Dusted with the Spices of a Million Flowers.

To celebrate the final phase, artist Tiffany Singh will host a special Family Drop-In session on Saturday 28 September where visitors can create green paper boats to add to the installation. The day will also feature a dance performance by Lucy-Mary Mulholland created specially for this final colour change-out and will offer visitors a chance to participate in greening up Auckland with a seedling exchange.

'Colour and nature are a way for our hearts and souls to be one with the world around us. May the Rainbow Always Touch Your Shoulder provides a space for us to connect our energies and experience the seasonal beauty that surrounds us everyday,' Ms Singh says.

Auckland Art Gallery Community Learning Coordinator Meg Nicoll says it's been wonderful to see people's responses to the artwork and to watch the space constantly evolve over the course of the year.

Auckland Art Gallery Director Rhana Devenport says working with such a high-calibre artist as Tiffany Singh has helped to shape the Creative Learning Centre into a truly inspirational space for families to enjoy. 'I started my arts career in education, so spaces like the Creative Learning Centre where people can make connections between themselves, the artist and art are very close to my heart.'

The Todd Foundation Creative Learning Centre is supported by the Joyce Fisher Charitable Trust.

The next artist to take over the Creative Learning Centre is Sean Kerr with his installation What's It Doing due to open 23 November.
