Whatua ngā aho o te ātanga | Weave together the threads of beauty

In celebration of Toi Tū Toi Ora: Contemporary Māori Art — the largest exhibition in the Gallery's 132-year history — we hosted Ātanga: Fashion Showcase, a one-night-only display of contemporary kākahu by a selection of Aotearoa New Zealand’s finest fashion designers.

Featuring the works of Kim Fraser (Wasteless-Kiwi), Kiri Nathan (Kiri Nathan), Bobby Luke-Campbell (Campbell Luke) and Misty Ratima (The People), witness the weaving together of cultural narratives and aesthetics of past, present and future with an exquisite selection of kākahu by late, renowned weavers Dame Rangimarie Hetet and her daughter Dr Diggeress Rangitutahi Te Kanawa in a showcase of traditional kākahu.
