Artwork Detail
Peter Peryer (1941-2018) is considered one of New Zealand’s most significant photographic artists.
He was the recipient of several awards including a Fullbright Fellowship in 1987. Peryer received an ONZM in 1997 for his contribution to photography in this country and was made an Arts Foundation Laureate in 2000.
His artworks are widely collected and are held in all major New Zealand public galleries. He is represented internationally, including at the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris and the Australian National Gallery in Canberra.
The archive consists of information files, scrapbooks and appointment diaries compiled by Peryer as well as exhibition catalogues, correspondence, negatives, slides, proof sheets and a small number of working prints. In addition, there is material collected by Jim Barr and Mary Barr on Peryer that they gifted to him, and he included in this donation.
