Dr Roger Blackley (1953-2019) was one of New Zealand's most pre-eminent art historians, whose specialist area was early colonial art in Aotearoa. From 1998, Blackley was Associate Professor of Art History at Victoria University, Wellington having been Auckland Art Gallery's curator of historical New Zealand art for the fifteen years prior. He authored, co-authored or contributed to close to forty books on the subject.
This archive consists of correspondence, press clippings, research notes, publications, transparencies and photographs.
