The Auckland Art Gallery held the First Pan Pacific Biennale involving 20 artists from New Zealand, Australia, USA and Japan from 20 March to 20 April 1976. The subtitle for the Biennale was 'Colour Photography and Its Initiative' however rather than traditional colour prints the exhibition featured experimental video, performance, film and other reproductive media. The exhibition was developed by exhibition officer, John Maynard.
The archive consists of a correspondence file relating to nine of the artists plus two general files.
