Partridge's Belgian Relief Fund Documents

Artwork Detail
Henry Partridge (1848-1931) made the gifting of the Partridge Collection of 70 paintings by Gottfried Lindauer to the Auckland Art Gallery conditional upon the raising by subscription of the sum of ten thousand pounds. This sum was to be donated to Auckland's Belgian Relief Fund, set up to aid Belgian refugees fleeing in the wake of the German occupation of their country during World War One. This archive consists of the leather-bound hand illustrated thank you letter he received and a copy of the ten thousand pound cheque the subscription realised.
