Artwork Detail
Bruce Barber (1950- ) is an artist, critical writer and educator who studied and lectured at Elam School of Fine Art at the University of Auckland. He has been based in Halifax, Nova Scotia since the mid Seventies. Much of the Archive covers the years 1968-75, during which time Barber was a performance artist whose works often took place in non-art sites such as Whatipu Beach (1973) and Mt Eden Crater (1973). Since the 1980s, Barber has been involved in two major series, Reading Rooms and Squat Projects. This archive consists of works on paper (both his and others), exhibition catalogues, photographs, correspondence, notes, musical scores, posters and ephemera.
