The Mackelvie Trust Board came into being upon the death of James Tannock Mackelvie. Mackelvie (1824-1885) was a significant donor of fine and applied arts, furniture and books to the people of Auckland in the nineteenth century. The Trust Board continue to make purchases with the collections being variously housed in the Auckland Art Gallery, the Auckland War Memorial Museum and the Central City Library in Auckland. Two boxes of papers including minutes, financial statements, inventories & correspondence
