Real Pictures Gallery was an Auckland based dealer gallery, which operated from 1979 until 1990. It was almost exclusively dedicated to the exhibiting of New Zealand photography. The business was established and run by Ian MacDonald. Douglas Owen later took over MacDonald's role as owner and director. Artists' and exhibitions' files which include slides and ephemera make up the majority of the archive. There are also miscellaneous files which are mainly business related and which include correspondence, ephemera and notes.
