Pat Hanly Journal

Pat Hanly Journal

Archive Collection Detail

Patrick (Pat) Hanly (1932-2004) was a well-known New Zealand painter and printmaker, who also worked in glass and produced murals for a number of Auckland buildings. His art is recognisable for its colour and vibrancy. As well as personal themes, Hanly's works often reflect his dedication to the anti-nuclear cause. This archive is a copy of his journal. Hanly produced this as a compilation of passages from earlier journals that he had written and subsequently destroyed. It covers the period 1960-1970, and has a cover note explaining its gestation written by Hanly in 1983.
