Dick Frizzell (born 1943) began his career as a commercial artist and illustrator and continues to freelance in these areas as well as having a successful career as an exhibiting artist. In addition, Frizzell has held the position of Senior Lecturer in Painting at Elam School of Fine Arts. This archive consists of preparatory sketches for the invitation and billboard advertising his solo show, Dick Frizzell: Portrait of a Serious Artiste when it was held at the Auckland Art Gallery's New Gallery from 30 August to 16 November 1997.
