Lindauer Art Gallery Visitors Book 1901-1909

Lindauer Art Gallery Visitors Book 1901-1909

Archive Collection Detail

This custom-made visitors book came to the Gallery when the Partridge Collection of paintings of Maori was deposited, and then finally gifted, in 1913 and 1915 respectively. It had been made available to those viewing these, mostly portraits, when they were on display in the Lindauer Art Gallery, a dedicated space above Partridge's shop in Queen St, Auckland.

Each comment is numbered from 1-7039 and some names have been annotated, for example, next to J.A. Baker's signature on the 18th June 1901 is written, 'special artist and correspondent, accompanying Duke of Cornwall's party'.
