    Online sales

    Auckland Art Gallery is partnering with Eventfinda to offer online ticket sales for Who Shot Rock & Roll. Tickets go on sale at midnight on Thursday 27 September. Online ticket holders will receive priority entry on the day of their visit.

    If you have booked a concession ticket or a family pass, please remember to bring the required ID with you on the day of your visit.

  • Who qualifies for child and student tickets?

    This exhibition has now closed.

    There is no entry charge for children under the age of 12. Student tickets are available to full-time students aged 13 or over on presentation of a valid student ID.

  • What is a family pass?

    This exhibition has now closed.

    A family pass provides entry to either two adults and one concession-rate ticket (senior, Community Services Card holder, student or child 13-18), or one adult and two concession-rate tickets.

    Additional tickets may be purchased in combination with a family pass to suit your group size.

  • What is a season pass?

    This exhibition has now closed.

    A season pass offers an individual unlimited entry to the exhibition during its season. Season passes are non-transferable and not eligible for further discount. To receive your season pass, please present your ticket and photo ID (for example, your drivers' licence) at the Gallery's front desk. Your ticket will be redeemed for a season pass, which must be presented along with your corresponding photo ID on all subsequent visits.

    If you've visited Who Shot Rock & Roll using a single admission ticket and decide you would like to come back for further visits, you can upgrade to a season pass. Simply present proof of your original ticket purchase at the Gallery's front desk and the cost of your single admission ticket will be deducted from the season pass price.

  • Do groups need to make a booking?

    Yes. Bookings for school groups or for 10 or more people should be made direct with Christine Wildman on 09 307 7728 or at christine.wildman@aucklandcouncil.govt.nz. Groups who arrive without a prior booking may be turned away from the exhibition.

  • Can I enter more than once with my ticket?

    With the exception of the season pass, tickets are for admission on a single day only. If you'd like to see Who Shot Rock & Roll more than once, please purchase a season pass which offers unlimited entry to the exhibition during the period 10 November 2012 - 3 March 2013.

    Your ticket price contributes to the costs involved in bringing an international exhibition of this calibre to New Zealand. Entry to the Gallery's permanent collections remains free of charge.

  • Do I need a ticket for the rest of the Gallery?

    No. Entry to Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki is free. All other exhibitions, the Learning Centre and the E H McCormick Research Library remain free of charge.

  • How long does it take to view the exhibition?

    We estimate you'll need to allow 60-90 minutes to view Who Shot Rock & Roll. Last entry will be at 4pm daily.

  • Is there a catalogue?

    Yes. Who Shot Rock & Roll: A Photographic History, 1955 - Present by author and curator Gail Buckland will be available for purchase in the Gallery shop on the ground level and at the pop-up shop outside the exhibition on level 1.

  • Can I take photographs in the exhibition?

  • Is this exhibition suitable for families and children?

    Families with children of all ages are very welcome, however the exhibition contains some adult themes and parental guidance is advised.

    Family passes are available for either two adults and one concession-rate ticket, or one adult and two concessions - you can find out more about them on the Tickets page. Admission is free for children aged 12 and under.

    Please note we don't allow any food or drink in the exhibition and ask that you don't touch the artworks.

    After viewing Who Shot Rock & Roll, extend your visit with a trip to the Learning Centre or join a family drop-in.
