Overview
Celebrate the start of summer and the reopening of the Creative
Learning Centre with a new installation,
May the Rainbow Always Touch Your Shoulder, by Tiffany
Singh. Meet the artist, enjoy music and dance performances, and
create your own works of art.
Visitors are encouraged to wear yellow to welcome the season and
join the fun.
The Big Day Art is a day for all ages, and is free of charge.
Programmes run all day from 10am until 4pm.

10am - 10.15am: Opening of the Creative Learning
Centre
Ceremonial Entrance
Join artist Tiffany Singh as she welcomes visitors to May the
Rainbow Always Touch Your Shoulder in the Creative Learning
Centre.
10am - 12pm: Rāga Sarang
North Atrium
Enjoy the music of Balamohan Shingade, a vocalist in the
Hindustāni classical tradition. Accompanied by Basant Madhur on
tabla, Shingade will welcome visitors and celebrate the opening of
the Creative Learning Centre.
10.15am - 12pm: Drop-in session
North Atrium
Join artist Tiffany Singh and contribute to an art installation
for the Creative Learning Centre. Drop-in, meet the artist and stay
as long as you like.
10.30 - 11.15am: Drawn in 60 Seconds
Mackelvie Gallery
Join our Educators for a series of quick drawing games in the
Gallery spaces. No previous drawing experience required and all
materials provided
12.15pm: Hip Hop Dance
North Atrium
Enjoy a dance performance by Carlene Newall and Grace Crawford and
their talented students.
1-3pm: Drop-in
North Atrium
Join us for this special summertime Drop-in. Experiment with
materials and create your own artwork to share with others.
1-3pm: Summer Songs
North Atrium
Hang out in the Atrium and listen as DJ Charlotte Ryan treats us
to a selection of summertime tunes. Or, let the music inspire your
art making as you join in the Drop-in.
2pm: Art Chat
Friedlander Gallery, level 1
Join Gallery staff for a chat about recent acquisition Ocean III by
Andreas Gursky. This is a chance to share ideas, hear a different
perspective and muse about meaning together.
3.15pm: The Caribbeanz Southern Stars Steelband
North Atrium
Enjoy the music of Aotearoa's first Caribbean steelband orchestra
and get ready to have a go yourself!
