Overview
The Gallery's north terrace will host a flexible programme of
artworks rotating over a six-month period. One of New Zealand's new
generation of installation artists, Kate Newby, has created its
first commissioned artwork.
Watch Kate Newby discuss her
artwork
Tread softly over Newby's I'm just like a pile of
leaves, as she invites you to look again and discover the
poetic beauty that lurks within our everyday surroundings. Discover
the hidden gems glinting from within and grapple with the work's
conflicting harshness and softness. Be reminded that the everyday
is, in fact, extraordinary.
Newby's installation is one of three temporary commissioned
works which celebrate the opening of the developed Gallery.
