Overview

Since the first designs were drawn in 1883, the Gallery's architecture has evolved continuously to house a growing collection and accommodate Auckland's developing cultural life. Four key moments in the building's history are highlighted in this exhibition.

Learn how restoration and expansion have given the Gallery's building a fresh new lease of life. From original archives to concept sketches, 3D models, architects' plans and project photographs, trace its transformation both inside and out.
