Overview
Auckland Art Gallery is staging its inaugural Triennial of
contemporary art. The Triennial's exhibition, Bright Paradise:
exotic history and sublime artifice, curated by Allan Smith,
Curator, Contemporary Art, Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tâmaki, will
be presented at three institutions: the Auckland Art Gallery's New
Gallery, Artspace and Auckland University's The Kenneth Myers
Centre.
31 New Zealand and international artists will explore
dreamscapes of modern history: the artificial paradise, the lost
paradise, the coastal and the oceanic imagination.

Crewdson, Lisa Crowley, Bill Culbert, Tony De Lautour, Stan
Douglas, Bill Hammond, Kendal Heyes, Gavin Hipkins, Roni Horn,

MacDonald, James Morrison, Mariele Neudecker, Ani O'Neill, Sabina
Ott, Michael Parekowhai, Séraphine Pick, Patrick Pound, Haru
Sameshima, Ann Shelton, Michael Shepherd, Paul Sietsema, Ronnie Van
Hout, Ruth Watson, Brendon Wilkinson.
