Ron Brownson talks about current exhibition Len Casbolt’s Photography: From Soft Focus to Sharp Vision

Between 1930 and 1970 Len Casbolt was one of New Zealand’s leading advocates for photography. He exhibited extensively nationally and internationally and expanded the activities and initiatives of the Christchurch Photographic Society to encompass exhibitions, education and the promotion of photography as fine art. Widely respected and internationally honoured, Casbolt led a shift from Pictorialist approaches towards photography to an experimentation which encompassed Modernist attitudes.
