Heta Te Haara was a prominent figure at Kaikohe and Waimate in Northland and one of the last Nga Puhi chiefs to sign the Treaty of Waitangi. The Te Haara family lived at Ohaeawai and according to school records, Heeta Te Haara served on the school committee from 1881-1883.
