Find out where and when to purchase tickets to the exhibition

  • When can I see Degas to Dalí?

    The exhibition runs from Saturday 3 March - Sunday 10 June and is open daily from 10am - 5pm. Last entry to the exhibition is at 4pm daily. From 3 April the Gallery will be open until 8pm every Tuesday. Last entry on these late nights is 7pm.

  • Where is the exhibition?

    The exhibition is located on level 1 of the Gallery. You can view and download a map of the Gallery here.

  • How do I buy tickets?

    On the day

    You can purchase same-day tickets for Degas to Dalí at the Gallery's front desk.

    Advance sales

    Auckland Art Gallery is partnering with The EDGE and Eventfinder to offer advance ticket sales for Degas to Dalí. Advance ticket holders will receive priority entry on the day of their visit.

    You can purchase tickets in advance in the following ways:

    Online: Visit The EDGE. You can choose to purchase a Day Pass ticket for a specific day, or an Any Day Pass which is valid for entry on any one day during the exhibition.

    You can also buy tickets online via Eventfinder.

    Advance ticket holders will receive priority entry on the day of their visit.

    If you are purchasing a ticket for a specific day, you will be asked to select the date of your visit at the time of booking. Bookings close at 8pm for the following day's entry.

    If you have booked a concession ticket or a family pass, please remember to bring the required ID with you on the day of your visit.

  • How much do tickets cost?

    If you book a concession ticket or a family pass, please remember to bring the required ID with you on the day of your visit.

  • Do I have to buy tickets for a specific day?

    If you choose to purchase tickets in advance for a specific day via The EDGE, you will need to identify the day on which you wish to attend the exhibition and your ticket will be valid for that day only.

    However, you can purchase an Any Day Pass via The EDGE which is valid for entry on any one day during the exhibition.

    Same-day ticket purchases are also available at the Gallery's front desk.

  • Can I just buy a ticket when I get to the Gallery?

    Yes, same-day ticket purchases are available at the Gallery front desk. However, we encourage visitors to purchase tickets in advance to guarantee entry to the exhibition.

  • What time do Degas to Dalí ticket sales close?

    Last ticket sales for Degas to Dalí are at 4pm daily, and at 7pm on our late night Tuesdays which start on 3 April.

  • Who qualifies for child and student tickets?

    There is no entry charge for children under the age of 14.

    Student tickets are available to full-time students aged 15 or over on presentation of a valid student ID.

  • What is a family pass?

    A family pass provides entry to two adults and up to three school aged children aged 15 or over. Tertiary students are not included within a family pass, but are eligible for the student rate on presentation of a valid student ID.

  • What is a season pass?

    A season pass offers an individual unlimited entry to the exhibition during its season. Season passes are non-transferable and not eligible for further discount. To receive your season pass, please present your ticket and photo ID (for example, your drivers' licence) at the Gallery's front desk. Your ticket will be redeemed for a season pass, which must be presented along with your corresponding photo ID on all subsequent visits.

    If you've visited Degas to Dalí using a single admission ticket and decide you would like to come back for further visits, you can upgrade to a season pass. Simply present proof of your original ticket purchase at the Gallery's front desk and the cost of your single admission ticket will be deducted from the season pass price.

  • Yes. Friends of the Gallery can buy tickets at the concession rate of $14. A Friends membership card must be presented when entering the exhibition. To find out how to become a Friend of the Gallery click here.

  • Do groups need to make a booking?

    Yes. Bookings for school groups or for 10 or more people should be made direct with Christine Wildman on 09 307 7728 or at christine.wildman@aucklandcouncil.govt.nz. Groups who arrive without a prior booking may be turned away from the exhibition.

  • What are the terms and conditions of sale?

    For advance tickets, The EDGE's standard terms and conditions - with the exception of items 7 and 12 - apply.

  • What happens if I can’t attend on the day for which I bought my advance ticket?

    If unforeseen circumstances mean that you can no longer visit the exhibition on the day for which you have bought an advance ticket, we may at our discretion and dependent upon gallery capacity redeem your ticket on a different day up until and including the final day of the exhibition. In these circumstances, you would lose your right to priority entry.

  • Can I enter more than once with my ticket?

    With the exception of the season pass, tickets are for admission on a single day only. If you'd like to see Degas to Dalí more than once, please purchase a season pass which offers unlimited entry to the exhibition during the period 3 March - 10 June.

  • Can I buy a ticket as a gift?

    Yes. If you'd like to buy a ticket for a specific day as a gift, please purchase it via The EDGE, either online or by calling 0800 BUY TICKETS. If you'd like to buy a ticket that can be used on any one day, please come to the Gallery front desk where our staff will be able to help you.

  • Why is there a charge for this exhibition?

    Your ticket price contributes to the costs involved in bringing an international exhibition of this calibre to New Zealand. Entry to the Gallery's permanent collections remains free of charge.

  • Do I need a ticket for the rest of the Gallery?

    No. Entry to Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki is free. All other exhibitions, the Learning Centre and the E H McCormick Research Library remain free of charge.

  • How long does it take to view the exhibition?

    We estimate you'll need to allow 60-90 minutes to view Degas to Dalí. Last entry will be at 4pm daily (or 7pm on our late nights, every Tuesday from 3 April onwards).

  • When's the best time to visit Degas to Dalí?

    If you're hoping to avoid the crowds, we recommend visiting Degas to Dalí during the middle of the week, and timing your visit towards the end of the day. The Gallery is also open until 8pm every Tuesday, giving you an extra chance to view the exhibition.

  • Is there a programme of events associated with Degas to Dalí?

  • Can I join a tour of the exhibition?

    Unless you are part of a booked group or visiting with a school, Degas to Dalí is a self-guided exhibition. A series of free 10-minute talks will take place in the exhibition - take a look at our events page for more information.

  • Is there a catalogue?

    Yes. An exhibition catalogue will be available in the Gallery shop on the ground level and at the kiosk outside the exhibition on level 1.

  • Can I take photographs in the exhibition?

    No. Photography is not permitted in the exhibition due to copyright restrictions so please keep your camera or your smartphone in your pocket. Click here to see the Gallery's full photography policy.

  • Is this exhibition suitable for families and children?

    Absolutely! Families with children of all ages are very welcome. Take advantage of our family pass for two adults and up to three children of school age. Admission is free for children aged under five. Please note we don't allow any food or drink in the exhibition and ask that you don't touch the artworks.

    No. Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki is the only venue for this exhibition worldwide.
